Built around Vegvisir, this pendant necklace is made for everyday Viking-inspired style - inspired by Vegvisir, the Norse wayfinder often called the Viking compass.

The Viking compass, Vegvisir, encircled by the Elder Futhark Runes in an ancient patina. The center Vegvisir spins freely and is quite satisfying as a fidget toy.

The Vegvisir, "That Which Shows the Way", pronounced "VEGG-vee-seer" is a symbol found in the Huld Manuscript, Icelandic collection of spells during the nineteenth century. It is said "If this sign is carried, one will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known."

It is not known if the Vikings used or wore this symbol during the Viking Age but it has gained popularity among Viking fans in recent days. This symbol is often worn for protection and is greatly respected by the Norse community.

Odin watched the Norns from his seat in Asgard and envied their powers and wisdom and bent his will toward the task of coming to know the runes. To gain the secret knowledge of the runes Odin sacrificed himself to himself. He hung himself from a branch of Yggdrasil, pierced himself with his spear, and stared down into the shadowy waters of the Well of Urd below calling to the runes for nine days and nine nights. At the end of the ninth night the Runes accepted Odin's sacrifice and showed themselves to him, revealing to him all their secrets and powers they possessed.
