This Viking ring features a Norse Gosforth Cross with ornate knot work on each arm of the cross.
The Gosforth Cross was first erected in Northumbria, Northern England and Southern Scotland area. The Gosforth Cross dates back to the middle of the 10 century and was pedestaled atop a tall slender sandstone base. The era was the pivotal time when Norse Pagans intermingled with the Christians and even integrated some their symbols into theirs. It's a humble reminder of a time when Pagans were slaughtered and forced to conceal their worship to the Norse Gods.
