Freya is the Goddess of love, fertility, and beauty. Freya is a volva, a professional seidr (Norse magic and shamanism), and introduced this art to the Aesir Gods and humans.

A Valkyrie, "chooser of the slain" in Old Norse, is one of a host of female figures who choose those who may die in battle and those who may live. Half of the selected who die in battle are taken to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin. The other half of those who die in battle go to the goddess Freyja's afterlife field Fólkvangr.
